About this Program

Champions For Learning’s Student Programs are divided into two distinct but complementary spheres: ‘college and career access’ and ‘occupation-based learning and skill-building.’ Currently, over 350 students are enrolled in our Student Programs: Take Stock In Children, College and Career Preparation, Technical Pathways and Entrepreneurship Program.

Our students face major barriers to high school graduation and postsecondary education. Most students cannot turn to their parents for help with their homework, or for guidance in the college application and scholarship process, as they are the first in their family considering college. Commonly, our students are being raised by parents or guardians whose formal education ended before high school graduation, or who never attended high school at all. Many are living in single-family homes overcrowded with multiple families and have never had someone foster high self-expectations or self-efficacy in them.

Mentoring is cornerstone to our Take Stock in Children program that guides students towards successful completion of high school and enrollment in college. College and Career Preparation students are empowered to attain postsecondary education and job training. Technical Pathways students receive guidance on how to navigate the academic, technical, and real-world knowledge, skills, and experience they need to be prepared for a career. Through the Entrepreneurship Program, students embody the spirit of an entrepreneur through their learning and application of business start-up practices and concepts to projects they’re passionate about.
